Zero Tolerance Policies No Longer Tolerated In Illinois Schools

Your kids will see fewer of their classmates kicked out of school for weeks or months at a time.

A new state law eliminates the use of “zero tolerance” policies for school discipline and discourages the use of long-term suspensions, except as a last resort.

Springfield Superintendent Jennifer Gill says the new law puts a burden on local districts… but says she and other administrators support the concept.
